When you put yourself out there, you will eventually find your way into print, & nowadays, digital print. That was the case for Mad Munch, when one day we found our faces on the SD Voyager website:
People can submit a small business they love to the online magazine & they will do a write up. I'm still not sure who contacted them for this short two-question interview (or remember where we were when they conducted the interview) but, I'm glad they took the time to do so. One Saturday in March 2018, Kate & I got interviewed at the Scripps Ranch market. Mad Munch had been a resident there for about nine months, give or take & a journalist from the Scripps Ranch News felt our story was compelling enough to write about.
A quote from that article kind of sums up what Kate & I were going through at the time:
"...he hopes to open a restaurant featuring his grilled cheese creations on Newport Avenue in Ocean Beach later this spring or summer."
I hoped? It didn't sound like I was very confident about the whole buildout process.
And, looking back maybe I wasn't. That's the way it is when you jump into unknown territory & try to figure it out on the fly. Kate & I were learning new things about ourselves & the business every day.
But, one thing was for sure- we were doing something different that people loved & it was starting to show up on the page & the web.
